My Concussion Study

THE ACCIDENT

It happened when I was ice skating with my grandson in the winter of 2018. I was winding down for one last lap when a young boy lost his balance and fell in front of me. I didn't have time to brace myself and before I knew it my head was on the ice, and I struggled to move. Eventually, I mobilized, and although shaken, went about my evening. The next day, vertigo set in and vestibular impairment...to the point that I couldn't stabilize myself. I was unable to stand without loosing my balance, and had extreme pain and fatigue that left me sleeping for weeks.

I was given a rare opportunity to enter a concussion study at Marcus Institute of Integrative Health - Thomas Jefferson, where I was prescribed to take one amino acid supplement for twelve weeks, and receive an IV of a higher dosage once per week. I entered a state-of-the-art MRI and PET scan that demonstrated metabolic activity. Fortunately, my brain anatomy was reported as close to perfect. However, the metabolic activity was asymmetrical—meaning that areas of my brain had significantly decreased metabolic activity.

ALL OF MY SYMPTOMS WERE HEALED COMPLETELY

Amazingly, after a few short weeks of treatment, my symptoms began to clear. Within two months, all of my symptoms resolved. Not only did the concussion symptoms improve, but I also realized that I had better brain function than I did prior to the concussion. I did not have one physical therapy session (which was prescribed) or vestibular therapy.

DON’T UNDERESTIMATE THE POWER OF NUTRITION

This is stunning evidence of the power that right nutrient has on our brain's capacity to heal! It turns out that this amino acid does not work for everyone (according to the study), yet it worked wonders for me. This is why I do what I do—advocate for "Personalized Medicine" for all.
